TECHNOLOGY

Indoor positioning — two methods, chosen to suit the environment

We work out where you are by matching the camera image and sensor data from a phone against spatial information registered in advance. No two indoor environments are alike, so we offer two methods and pick or combine them to suit the site.

METHOD A

VPS

The camera image tells us where you are and which way you are facing. Our patented processing handles the repeating indoor geometry that existing VPS struggles with. It also works where you would rather not put markers on show.

AR markers

A QR code or AR marker carrying spatial information is recognized, and that tells us where you are. It limits where you can start, but it is the more stable and general-purpose method.

Indoor positioning

Match the camera image and sensor data against spatial information registered in advance to work out where the device is in the building, and which way it is facing.

SETUP

Standing up a space

This is the work of preparing your building as a space the system can handle. Once it is done, any of the services can run on top of it.

STEP 1

Scan the space

Scan the features of the space to build a map. Even without a scan, accurate drawings usually get you most of the way.

STEP 2

Put up the markers

Place QR codes around the facility that let a device work out where it is in the building.

STEP 3

Tie information to it

Either recognize a marker and then enter or photograph what you want to record, or attach information from the map view.

VISION

And beyond that, a spatial AI platform

Indoor positioning is the base. On top of it we are adding: search across nearby data, a read on what is going on, know-how pulled out of work records, and AI that guides people and hands out work.

Pair that with something you wear all day, like smart glasses, and you can simply ask the building a question and get an answer back.

The same base lets us plug in robotics, starting with patrol robots. Once a building's spatial information is in place, physical AI can work out how the building is laid out and move around on its own.
