Nefront Inc. is a startup that uses AI and AR to make the information in a building easy to see and use. We record on site, organize it tied to place, and build a spatial AI platform that both people and AI can use.
Members
Founded by two people from the computer science programs at the University of Tokyo and the University of Tsukuba. We keep one foot in research and one on site.

Shota Imamura
After graduating from the College of Information Science at the University of Tsukuba, went on to the Rekimoto Lab at the University of Tokyo Graduate School. Alongside developing and commercializing an indoor AR cloud, researches applications of AI and gaze interfaces for AR/VR head-mounted displays. Led the launch of new businesses as a PM during a long-term internship at the Zigexn group, then built and ran a social network built around event listings before founding Nefront.

Kazuki Hemmi
PhD in Social Engineering. After completing the Department of Computer Science and its advanced course at the National Institute of Technology, Tokyo College, went on to social engineering (industrial engineering) at the University of Tsukuba Graduate School and earned a doctorate there. Researched AutoML (automated machine learning) with the Social Intelligence Research Team at the Artificial Intelligence Research Center, AIST, and published the results at several international conferences and in journals. A born idea person who simply loves getting his hands on new technology.

On 17 March 2026 the University of Tsukuba recognized Nefront as a University of Tsukuba Startup, and on 19 March the university’s Office of Global Industry-University Collaboration conferred the title (category: student venture).
